MBIE: National Construction Pipeline Report 2024
MBIE has published its National Construction Pipeline Report 2024, which provides a projection of building activity for the next 6 years through to the end of 2029. It includes national and regional breakdowns of actual and forecast residential building, non-residential building, and infrastructure activity.
This report was jointly prepared by BRANZ and Pacifecon NZ and aims to provide the building and construction sector valuable information to help it plan for future demand. You can read and download the full report from the MBIE website.
CoreLogic: Construction conditions look set to improve in 2025
CoreLogic has published its latest Cordell Construction Cost Index (CCCI), a quarterly industry report that measures the rate of change of construction costs within the residential market to build a ‘standard’ 200 sqm three-bedroom, two-bathroom single storey brick and tile house in Aotearoa.
In this latest report, it shows the cost to build a ‘standard’ single standalone dwelling in NZ increased by 0.6% in the three months to December, half the 1.1% growth seen in the third quarter of 2024 and also below the long-term average quarterly rise of 1.0%.
